saic-chery automobile co.‚ ltd was founded in 1997. chery invested a total amount of rmb1.752 billion in its first-phase project‚ covering an area of over 800‚000 square meters in total‚ with an annual production capacity of 300‚000 engines and 100‚ 000 automobiles. december 2001 saw the start of the second phase of the project‚ with an investment of rmb2.5 billion‚ occupying a floorage of over 300‚000 square meters and a building area of more than 200‚000 square meters. the second-phase project went into operation after *****pletion in march 2003. up to this point chery has achieved the capacity of producing *****‚000 automobiles yearly. by the time the third-phase project construction got started on april 1‚2003‚ chery had adopted the newest technology for constructing factory buildings of steel‚ and the four major technologies - pressing‚ painting‚ welding and general assembly - were ac*****plished through the adoption of internationally advanced techniques and equipment. holding patents on to 100 techniques for the overall appearance of its automobiles‚ by the end of aug. 2003‚ chery has successively put out 3 kinds of sqr engine series and chery·windcloud‚ chery·***** ‚ chery·oriental son and chery·flagcloud automobile series.
chery was formally launched in mar. 2001 and sells nearly 30‚000 units in the same year. the year 2002 witnessed chery’s breakthrough in its quota of 50‚000 automobiles in both production and marketing‚ showing an increase of 78.11 over the previous year‚ and sharing an occupation of 4.4 in the domestic auto market‚ which put chery in the ranks of the top eight in the domestic auto industry and made it a generally acknowledged ”rising star”. in the meantime‚ through unremitting efforts‚ chery has successively won five firsts for its automobiles in the cou***y‚ and furthermore‚ its automobiles have six times earned the acclaim of end-users abroad‚ thereby creating a miracle in the history of china’s auto industry.
